Configuring custom field rollup types

You can also roll up values across relationships between two entities defined by a relationship custom field. For example, if a contact is the lawyer of several other contacts, you could use the Lawyer custom field to roll up a value from all of the clients to the lawyer contact.

NexJ Admin Console protects against any infinite loop situation that could occur through custom field rollups. You must follow these two rules when assigning Source Types and Target Types, regardless of which custom fields you choose:

  • The Source Type and Target Type values must be different.
  • For each Source Type-Target Type pair, the values cannot be reversed in another custom field rollup, even if the custom fields are different. For example, if one rollup has a Source Type of A and a Target Type of B, no other row can have a Source Type of B and a Target Type of A.
