You can also roll up values across relationships between two entities defined by a relationship custom field. For example, if a contact is the lawyer of several other contacts, you could use the Lawyer custom field to roll up a value from all of the clients to the lawyer contact.
NexJ Admin Console protects against any infinite loop situation that could occur through custom field rollups. You must follow these two rules when assigning Source Types and Target Types, regardless of which custom fields you choose:
The Source Type and Target Type values must be different.
For each Source Type-Target Type pair, the values cannot be reversed in another custom field rollup, even if the custom fields are different. For example, if one rollup has a Source Type of A and a Target Type of B, no other row can have a Source Type of B and a Target Type of A.
Enabling custom field rollup types
To enable a custom field rollup type:
Navigate to the Rollup Maintenance page.
In the Custom Field Rollup list, click the Add button . The Add Custom Field Rollup Configuration dialog opens.
In the Custom Field field, select the type of custom field to roll up.
In the Source Type field, select which field will be rolled up
In the Target Type field, select which field in the target entity the rolled up values will be entered into.
Click OK. The Add Custom Field Rollup Configuration dialog closes.
Disabling custom field rollup types
To disable a custom field rollup type:
Navigate to the Rollup Maintenance page.
In the Custom Field Rolluplist, click the Action button for the rollup type you want to disable, and click the Deletebutton.
