Creating opportunity templates

Create an opportunity template when you want to provide users with a new type of opportunity that they can add in NexJ CRM.

When you create an opportunity template, you initially select the category of opportunity, either parent opportunity or product opportunity. You then specify the opportunity's details, including the type of contact it will be for, and add the stages that the opportunity can progress through.

To create an opportunity template:

  1. Navigate to the Customize workspace.
  2. In the Opportunity Management tab, click the Templates subtab.
  3. In the templates list, click Add and select the type of opportunity template you want to create, either Parent Opportunity or Product Opportunity. The Add Opportunity Template dialog opens.
  4. In the Detail tab, enter a name and description for the template.
  5. [Optional] To specify a different icon, in the Icon field, click the Select button  and choose the desired icon in the dialog that appears.
  6. In the Target Entity Type field, select the type of contact that this opportunity will be for. Select one of Company, Household, or Contact.
  7. [Optional] If you want the opportunity to be available to users immediately after you create it, ensure that the Active checkbox is selected.

    If you do not select the Active checkbox now, you can activate the opportunity template later by right-clicking the template and selecting Activate.

  8. In the Stages tab, add stages to the template.

    You must add at least one stage before you can save the template.

  9. Click OK to save the template. The Add Opportunity Template dialog closes.

The opportunity template is created. If you selected the Active checkbox, users can now select this template as an opportunity type when they add a new opportunity in NexJ CRM.
