Service request management and business process forms enhancements

This release includes enhancements to service request management and business process forms functionality, including the ability for service request approvers to approve or reject service requests.

Approve service requests

Service request approvals enable administrators to tie a business process to a service request whenever a service request needs to be approved by someone prior to completion. This feature will help users follow the necessary regulatory and process requirements.

Key capabilities include:

Create a Business Process Template

Create business process templates for service requests with their respective entry and exit criteria, and workflow steps.

Tie a Business Process to a Service Request

Automatically or manually tie a business process to a service request to trigger all necessary approval requests.

Approve or Reject a Service Request

Assigned approvers can review the service request and approve or reject it to trigger the next step of the business process.

Document management enhancements

The document management functionality has been enhanced to support rich text formatting.

Document Manager supports rich text formatting for notes

You can enter notes with rich text formatting when adding documents to the Document Manager.

For more information about rich text formatting, see Adding documents to the Document Manager.

NexJ System Admin Console

This release introduces a new administrator console, NexJ System Admin Console. You access the console using the following syntax: http://<localhost>:<8080>/<nexj>/SysAdmin.html.

NexJ System Admin Console contains the Object Queues, Statistics, and Filters pages, which were previously located in NexJ Admin Console. This is the foundation for separation of business application administration and system administration.

You use NexJ System Admin Console to monitor and manage object queues as well as view real-time usage statistics for NexJ Model Engine. For example, you can view pending object queue messages, resend blocked messages, and disable the receive method for a specific queue. You can also view real-time usage statistics through Java Management Extensions (JMX).

Privilege for NexJ System Admin Console

NexJ System Admin Console is secured by the SysAdminApplicationAccess privilege, which is included in the gCoreAdmin privilege group.

Technology enhancements

The following enhancements will improve application development.

Support for standards mode for web browsers

NexJ CRM supports standards mode for Microsoft Internet Explorer 11, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome. Standards mode enables the NexJ CRM application framework to interpret layout features more reliably through increased compliance with the W3C standards.

Standards mode support enables increased compatibility with third-party applications that require secure libraries and assists with integration of these applications as portlets.

Developers can use Internet Explorer F12 development tools, which enable them to more easily debug and troubleshoot layout issues.

Standards mode support provides enhanced web page rendering performance using newer layout engine code that delivers improved user interface responsiveness, which benefits our users. It also provides improved support for HTML5 features.

Info

As a result of supporting standards mode, the NexJ Studio Plugin for the 8.7 release, which is the com.nexjsystems.nexjstudio ZIP file, is not backwards compatible with NexJ CRM 8.6 metadata.

Support for Oracle MySQL database adapter

NexJ CRM supports Oracle MySQL 5.7.19 as an adapter for integration. It is not a fully supported database platform for running NexJ CRM on.
