Modifying custom field groups

There are six custom field groups in the system. You can rename any of the groups, change their descriptions, make them active or inactive, and specify which contact types they apply to.

By default, the groups are named Financial, Profile, Private, Relationships, Group1, and Group2. Group1 and Group2 represent sample groups that you can rename before using. To display in NexJ CRM, a custom field group must have contact types assigned to them. By default, only the Private and Profile groups have contact types assigned.

You can also use the up  and down  buttons at the top of the Custom Field Type Groups list to change the order in which groups display in NexJ Admin Console.

Modifying custom field group properties

You can modify the name and description for a custom field group, and make a group active or inactive.

To modify custom field group properties:

  1. Navigate to the Entity Codes page.
  2. In the Custom Field Types tab, select a group from the list in the Custom Field Type Groups subtab.
  3. In the Detail area, click the Edit button The Edit Custom Field Type Group dialog opens.
  4. In the Name field, enter a display name for the custom field group tab in a contact's profile in NexJ CRM.
  5. In the Description field, enter an internal description of the custom field group.
  6. Select the Active checkbox to make the custom field group available in NexJ CRM.

You must also assign one or more contact types to the custom field group to make the group available in NexJ CRM. For example, if you add the Company contact type to a custom field type group, the group displays in a company's profile on the Contacts workspace.

  7. Click OK.
The Edit Custom Field Type Group dialog closes.

The custom field group is modified.
