Adding activities to opportunities

You can add activities, such as tasks, schedule items, or documents, to an opportunity.

Activities can also be configured for opportunities as part of the opportunity template on the Customize workspace You can also edit and delete exiting activities related to opportunities, whether they were added to the opportunity directly or were added based on the opportunity template.

To add a new activity to an opportunity:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • On the Opportunities workspace, select the opportunity you want to add an activity to. Select the Activities tab.
    • On the Contacts workspace, select the contact associated with the opportunity you want to add an activity to. In the Journal tab, select the Opportunities subtab. From the list of opportunities associated with the contact, select the opportunity you want to add an activity to. Select the Activities tab.
  2. Click the Add button and select the type of activity you want to add.
    You can choose to add a schedule item, task, document, or call record.
    Depending on the type of activity you selected, one of the following dialogs opens:
    • Add Schedule Item
    • Add Task
    • Add Document
    • Edit <Type of Call Record>
  3. Complete all the tabs in the dialog, as required and click OK.
    The dialog closes and the new activity appears in the activity list.
  4. [Optional] If desired, add a follow-up to the activity.
    1. Select the Follow-ups tab below the activities list.
    2. Click the Add button.
    3. Complete the dialog that appears and click OK.

The activity is now added to the current stage of the opportunity.

After an activity has been added to the opportunity, you can take any of the following actions on the Activities tab:

  • To modify the details of the activity, click the Action button  and select Edit.
  • To change the status of the activity to "complete", click the Action button  and select Mark as Complete.
  • To delete the activity, click the Action button  and select Delete.
  • To send an email regarding the activity, click the Action button and select Email.
  • To add a call record to the activity, click the Action button and select Add Call Record.
