Managing your conversations using your phone

In NexJ CRM, a conversation is a collection of related messages exchanged securely between two or more users.

A conversation can be associated with a specific record in a subject area, making the conversation contextual. All of your conversations appear in the Conversations workspace in the conversations list. Selecting a conversation in this list opens its details and messages in the detail view.

Conversations are sorted according to their latest messages; the conversation with the most recent message appears at the top of the conversations list.

Starting conversations

When using NexJ CRM with a smartphone, you can create new conversations from any workspace or page.

To start a conversation:

  1. Touch the Add button  and then touch Conversation.
    A new conversation opens.
  2. In the With field, search for and then select the user or users you want to start a conversation with.

    You can only add users to the conversation when you first create it. After you send the first message in the conversation, you can no longer add users.

  3. [Optional] In the About drop-down, select a subject area for the conversation. In the About text input field, search for the specific record within the selected subject area and then touch the name of the record you want as context for this conversation.

    Conversations associated with contacts appear in the Conversations workspace and in the Profile page of the associated contact's record.

  4. [Optional] In the Subject field, add a meaningful subject for this conversation.
  5. [Optional] In the Security field, select the Private to Participant checkbox to mark this conversation as private.
    Conversations marked as private are visible to only the participants in the conversation.
  6. In the Message field, enter the text for this first message in the conversation.
  7. Touch Send.

The message is sent to the specified participants and each participant receives a message notification in the desktop application.

Viewing conversations

View your conversations in the conversations list of the Conversations workspace.

To view conversations:

  1. Navigate to the Conversations workspace.

    The conversations list appears. If you have more conversations than can fit on the screen, a More button appears at the bottom of the list.

    To refresh the conversations list, touch Refresh.

  2. Select the conversation you want to review.
    The conversation opens and displays the most recent messages from this conversation.
  3. [Optional] If you have more messages that can fit on a screen, touch Load More.
    The conversations list expands to display more messages (in increments of 10) above the messages already being displayed.

You have now viewed a conversation and its messages.

Replying to conversation messages

Any participant in a conversation may reply to it; if you are not a participant in the conversation, you cannot reply.

To reply to a conversation:

  1. Navigate to the Conversations workspace.
  2. Locate and select the conversation you want to reply to.
    The conversation message opens in the detail view.
  3. In the blank message field, enter the text of your message.

    You cannot send a blank message.

  4. Touch Send.

Your message is sent to all of the participants in the conversation and each participant receives a notification.

If you want to add an attachment to your message or add or remove participants, you need to perform these actions using the desktop version.
