Configuring NexJ Add-In for Microsoft Office using configuration dialogs

With NexJ Add-In successfully installed, it may need to be configured for your system and preferences.

Depending on settings specified by the application administrator, not all NexJ CRM configuration dialogs may be available on all systems.

  • Use the NexJ CRM Options dialog to control attachment and follow-up preferences for emails saved to NexJ CRM.
  • Use the NexJ CRM Advanced Options dialog to control attachment filtering and the removal of signatures and boilerplate text from emails saved to NexJ CRM.
  • Use the NexJ CRM Settings dialog to configure NexJ CRM connection and login settings.

The application administrator can also use the registry editor to configure additional advanced settings.

Configuring NexJ Add-In using the NexJ CRM Options dialog

The NexJ CRM Options dialog lets you control attachment and follow-up preferences for emails saved to NexJ CRM.

To configure options:

  1. In the Home tab of either Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Word, click the NexJ CRM Options Dialog Launcher button 
    . The NexJ CRM Options dialog opens:

  2. If you want to include the email and its attachments when you create a follow-up task in Outlook, select Save Email with Follow-Up.

  3. If you want to save the entire Outlook email to NexJ CRM as an attachment in .msg format, select Save entire message file (including attachments) as an Outlook file.

    The maximum size of attachments is limited by the application administrator, using the Synchronization page of NexJ Admin Console.

  4. If you want to save the attachments to NexJ CRM as individual files, select Include attachments as individual files.

  5. Click OK.

The configuration changes are saved.

Configuring NexJ Add-In using the NexJ CRM Advanced Options dialog

The NexJ CRM Advanced Options dialog lets you control attachment filters and the removal of signatures and boilerplate text from emails saved to NexJ CRM.

To configure advanced options:

  1. In the Home tab, click the NexJ CRM Options Dialog Launcher button

    . The NexJ CRM Options dialog opens.

  2. Click Advanced Options. The NexJ CRM Advanced Options dialog opens:

  3. If you want to exclude some of the attachments from an email before saving it to NexJ CRM, enter the file names of the attachments that you want to exclude in the text box of the Filter Attachments section.

    This filter supports both the * and ? wildcard characters. The * wildcard is a placeholder for a string of text of any length, including spaces, while the ? wildcard represents a single alphanumeric character. For example, entering *.jpg in the Filter Attachments text box will exclude all files with the .jpg extension

  4. If you want to remove certain signature and boilerplate text from the emails before saving them to NexJ CRM, enter the pattern of text you want to remove in the text box in the Remove Signature and Boilerplate Text section.

    This filter supports the * wildcard character. The * wildcard is a placeholder for a string of text of any length, including spaces.

  5. Click OK.

The advanced configuration changes are saved.

Configuring NexJ Add-In using the NexJ CRM Settings dialog

If necessary, you can configure the application server and login settings by using the NexJ CRM Settings dialog.
To configure application server and login settings for NexJ CRM :

  1. In the Home tab, click the NexJ CRM Options Dialog Launcher button
    .
    The NexJ CRM Options dialog opens.
  2. Click Server Settings . The NexJ CRM Settings dialog opens:

  3. In the Server Name field, enter the name of the application server running NexJ CRM. For example, http://nexjserver.com

  4. In the Port (optional) field, enter the port number, as specified by the application administrator. The default port number is 80 for non-secure connections and 443 for secure connections.

  5. In the Server Path field, enter the full path to the application server.

  6. If you want to use a proxy application server, select Use Proxy and specify the details for the proxy application server in the corresponding fields.

  7. Select the authentication method to use. If you select Use NexJ CRM Authentication, enter your NexJ CRM user name and password.

  8. Click Test Login to test your configuration and confirm successful login.

  9. Click OK to finish and log into NexJ CRM.

The updated application server and login settings for NexJ CRM are saved.
