Installing NexJ Add-In for Microsoft Office

To install NexJ Add-In, run the provided installer executable from the command-line interface. Set configuration options either by using the command line during installation or by using the Windows registry editor after installation.

Installing NexJ Add-In for Microsoft Office using the command line

If you have a previous version of NexJ Add-In for Microsoft Office installed, remove it before installing the new version.

  • To access the installer help menu, which explains the various install options, issue the following command:
    C:\NexJ\nexj-office-setup-4.6.2.exe /h
    where
    C:\NexJ
    is the location of the installer executable and nexj-office-setup-4.6.2.exe is the name of the installer executable file.
  • To install NexJ Add-In without the program bringing up any installation prompts, run the installer with the /S parameter. For example, issue the following command:
    C:\NexJ\nexj-office-setup-4.6.2.exe /S

    By default, this installs NexJ Add-In for the user currently logged in on the machine. To install for all users, add the /ALLUSERS=1 parameter:
    C:\NexJ\nexj-office-setup-4.6.2.exe /S /ALLUSERS=1

  • All configuration options can be set using the command line during the installation. For example, to install NexJ Add-In silently and set the host name to www.nexjsystems.com, issue the following command:
    C:\NexJ\nexj-office-setup-4.6.2.exe /S /NexJServer=www.nexjsystems.com

  • To change settings after installation, use the registry editor.

You can also configure some basic settings using the NexJ CRM Options dialog.

The installation process includes copying an instance of adxregistrator.exe to the machine running NexJ Add-In. This program registers and loads NexJ Add-In within Microsoft Office.

Uninstalling NexJ Add-In using the command line

You can uninstall NexJ Add-In using the command-line interface.

To uninstall NexJ Add-In without any additional prompts, issue the following command:
C:\NexJ\nexj-office-setup-4.6.2.exe /S /U
where
C:\NexJ is the location of the installer executable and nexj-office-setup-4.6.2.exe is the name of the installer executable file.

Installing NexJ Add-In using the setup wizard

If you have a previous version of the NexJ Add-In for Microsoft Office installed, remove it before installing the new version using the Windows Programs and Features dialog, accessed through the Windows Control Panel.

The setup wizard will perform all of the installation steps, though you may still need to set the name and path of the application server running NexJ CRM in the NexJ CRM Settings dialog.
To install NexJ Add-In using the provided wizard, complete the following steps:

  1. Close all instances of Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  2. Locate the NexJ Add-In Microsoft setup wizard file, for example, nexj-office-setup-4.6.2.exe.

  3. Double-click the file to begin installation. If a confirmation dialog appears, asking whether you want to allow the program to make changes to your computer, click Yes.
    You will need to run the setup wizard as your computer's administrator so that it can make all of the necessary changes.

  4. In NexJ Add-In for Microsoft Office Setup dialog, select whether you want to install the NexJ Add-In for the current user or all users of your computer and click Next.

  5. In the Welcome screen that appears, click Next.

  6. In the Custom Setup screen, click Next.
    If a warning dialog about open Microsoft Office applications appears, click Close Office Applications and click Next.

  7. In the Ready to Install screen, click Install.

  8. Wait for the installation to complete.

  9. Click Finish to exit the setup wizard.

The installation process includes copying an instance of adxregistrator.exe to the machine running NexJ Add-In. This program is used for registering and loading NexJ Add-In within Microsoft Office.

Verifying NexJ Add-In installation

Open Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word and verify that you can see the NexJ CRM group.

In Word 2010 and Outlook 2010 or later, you should be able to see the NexJ CRM group in the Home tab. In earlier versions of Word and Outlook, you should be able to see the NexJ CRM group either in the menu bar or in the Add-Ins tab.
