Starting with version 26.02, Microsoft Graph API is the interface used to maintain synchronization of calendar items and contacts with Exchange Online.
Prior to this release, Exchange Online synchronization was supported by Exchange Web Services (EWS) requests, which Microsoft is expected to begin blocking starting October 2026.
This change does not affect the end-user experience except for the following limitations.
Graph API limitations in version 26.02
-
It is not possible to disable meeting invitation notifications. The notifications are sent when a meeting is first created with invitees, or if a meeting is created and the invitees are added later. This may cause an issue when a user logs in for the first time after they have been migrated from EWS to Graph API if that user has multiple schedule items created in the past.
-
If a user attempts to edit an existing task to update the recurrence pattern, they will encounter an “unexpected error” message from Graph API.
-
It is not possible to create a recurring task that is generated based on completing the previous task.
