Modifying follow-ups for business processes

Modify follow-ups in a business process when you want to make changes to the additional work items that are assigned to users. Follow-ups can be documents, schedule items, or tasks.

You can modify a business process only before it is submitted. Submitted business processes cannot be modified because they provide an audit trail and a historical record of updates to your contact, company, opportunity, and service request records.


To modify follow-ups in a business process:

  1. Navigate to the Contacts workspace to modify follow-ups in a business process for a contact or company. Navigate to the Opportunities workspace to modify follow-ups in a business process for an opportunity. Navigate to the Service Requests workspace to modify follow-ups in a business process for a service request.
  2. Select the contact, company, opportunity, or service request for which you want to modify a business process.
    The record for the selected contact, company, opportunity, or service request is displayed.
  3. Click the Business Processes tab.
    A list of all business processes for the contact, company, opportunity, or service request is displayed.
  4. Click the Action button  for the business process whose follow-ups you want to modify, then select Edit.
    The Edit dialog opens.
  5. Click the Related tab.
    The current follow-ups for the business process are displayed in the Follow-ups area.
  6. Make your desired changes to the follow-ups.
    • To add a follow-up:
      1. Click Add and select the type of follow-up that you want to add.
      2. Specify any desired details, associations, follow-ups, attachments, and view security settings for the follow-up, then click OK.
    • To modify a follow-up:
      1. Click the Action button  for the follow-up that you want to modify, then select Edit.
      2. Modify your desired details, associations, follow-ups, attachments, and view security settings for the follow-up, then click OK.
    • To remove a follow-up:
      1. Click the Action button  for the follow-up that you want to remove, then select Delete.
      2. Click Delete in the confirmation dialog to remove the follow-up.
  7. Click OK to save the changes to the follow-ups for the business process.

    To save the changes and begin filling out the form, click Save and Dock instead.

    The Edit dialog closes.

Your changes to the follow-ups for the business process are saved. If you created new follow-ups, or changed the assignees for existing follow-ups, the work items will now be assigned to the specified users.
