Creating flow templates

Create a flow template when you want to design a form that you can use in multiple business process and call script templates.

A flow template consists of a form and the associated flow for the form. The form specifies the pages, sections, and questions that a user fills out. The flow specifies which pages from the form are shown to the user, and the order in which they are displayed.

When you initially create a flow template, you associate the template with an object type such as an address, contact, company, or opportunity. The object determines the type of information from the database that the flow template has access to. For example, when you associate a flow template with the Address object, questions in the form can be bound only to address fields such as City and State.

After you have created and activated a flow template, you can include it as a library form in the flow for a business process or call script.

To create a flow template:

  1. Navigate to the Customize workspace.
  2. Select the Form Library tab. A list of all flow templates is displayed on the left.
  3. At the top of the list, click Add. The Add Flow Template dialog opens.
  4. In the Description field, enter a name for the flow template.
  5. In the Object Type field, select the object that you want to associate the flow template with.
  6. Click OK. The Add Flow Template dialog closes and a new flow template is added to the list.

You have created an empty flow template.

Before you can activate and use the flow template, you must next specify the pages and flow for the form in the template. This is done in the same way that you specify the pages and flow for a form in a business process or call script template.
